SUVA, Fiji (Fiji Times, Nov. 11, 2016) – A partnership has been established between the Fiji National University (FNU) and the Pacific Disability Forum (PDF) to promote academic excellence and enhance employability for persons with disabilities.

The Memorandum of Understanding, signed at the Nasinu campus last week, will allow the exchange of faculty students and staff between the two institutions, and the use of scientific materials, publications and collaborative research, and organised lectures and symposiums.

FNU vice chancellor Professor Nigel Healey said they had been working on the university disability policy - based on international best practices - and it needed students' support.

"We have a mission as the national university to make post-secondary education, both at Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET) and higher education level accessible to people of Fiji regardless of their location, income or the particular disability that they may have," he said.

PDF chief executive officer Setareki Macanawai said the partnership would assist in the improvement of the quality of life of persons with disabilities.
