Tongan Royals Attend World Premier Of Disney's 'Moana'

Polynesian-themed movie stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as demi-god Maui

NUKU‘ALOFA, Tonga (Matangi Tonga, Nov. 16, 2016) – Hon. Frederica Filipe and her two cousins Prince Tungi and Hon. ‘Etani Tuku’aho attended a star studded World Premier of Disney’s highly anticipated Polynesian animated movie 'Moana', at the famed El Capitan Theater in Los Angeles on 14 November.

'Moana' is an American 3D computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. The film introduces the voice of Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and features Dwayne Johnson, also known as the ‘The Rock’ as the voice of the demi-god Maui. Moana sails off in search of a mythical island in her journey to save her world is accompanied by Maui.

Hon. Frederica told Matangi Tonga today that in the past four-years she has been working with entrepreneur Elizabeth Lavulo at the TheWhatItDo.com, the only Polynesian entertainment media outlet catering for Pacific Islanders in sports and entertainment in Hollywood.

“A year-ago Disney invited me to meet with the directors and producers for the Moana movie, after which they reached out and invited me and my family to the premiere. It was an honour to represent our Kingdom of Tonga on the blue carpet and encourage the unity between all of our Pacific Islands by supporting Disney's Moana Movie,” she said.

The movie opens in theatres across the United States on 23 November.
