PORT VILA, Vanuatu (Vanuatu Daily Post, Dec. 10, 2016) – The Speaker of Parliament Esmon Saemon, replied to the Opposition Group on the same day he received the Motion of No Confidence in Prime Minister Charlot Salwai, deposited in his office Thursday morning, to state that, the motion was in order.

He stated that the Motion of No Confidence in Prime Minister Salwai, signed by nine MPs, will be mature for debate on Thursday 15th December 2016, one week after receiving and declaring the motion to be in order.

The Speaker outlined in his letter to the Opposition dated 8th December 2016, that “in accordance with the provisions of Article 43(2) of the Constitution and as well as the motion requires at least one week’s notice, I therefore set Thursday 15th December 2016 at 4.00 pm for the Motion to be tabled and debated in Parliament.

The Deputy and Acting Leader of the Opposition, MP Sato Kilman, told local media Thursday this week that it is the same motion which the Opposition had it through to Parliament but was not debated because, the Speaker ruled then that it was not in order for the reason that some of the signatories on the motion, had withdrawn their signatures.
