SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, Dec. 13, 2016) – The final draft of the 902 report will be submitted to President Obama this week, Press Secretary Ivan Blanco said on Monday.

If the president signs the report, it will then be transmitted to the U.S. Congress, Blanco added.

The report is based on the 902 consultation talks between CNMI and U.S. officials regarding the islands’ workforce issues and the military’s proposed live-fire training on Tinian and Pagan.

Blanco said the report recommends an increase in the CW cap, which is currently 12,998, and the extension of the CW program beyond 2019.

In addition, the report mentions the CNMI’s opposition to the military’s live-fire training proposal for Tinian and Pagan.

Also this week, Blanco said Gov. Ralph Torres will be in San Diego, California to attend a meeting of the Western Governors Association and to reach out to fellow governors and seek their support on matters affecting the CNMI including the possible repeal of Obamacare, renewable energy and labor issues.
