One of PNG's longest serving broadcasters passed away over the weekend

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, March 8, 2017) – Governor General Mr Bob Dadae today paid tribute to one of Papua New Guinea’s longest serving broadcaster and radio personality the late Roger Hau’ofa describing him as ‘one of the great icons of radio.’

Late Hau’ofa was ill for some time and passed away last weekend.

"Late Hau’ofa was one of the great icons of radio broadcasting in the history of our country having served in the industry for more than 50 years.

He was a great advocate of democracy in promoting freedom of expression on his famous Talk Back show on Kalang radio and now FM100.

Late Hau’ofa connected well with ordinary people across the nation in debating issues of national importance.

He was fearless in promoting values of honesty and transparency at all levels of work. That was his legacy and one that we should all aspire to emulate.

My wife Hannah and I extend to the family, children and grandchildren of the late Hau’ofa our deepest sympathies and condolences and pray that God’s grace and guidance be upon you all during this difficult time," the Governor General said.
