Three Palauans, One Kosraean Graduate From Firefighter Training In Saipan

Four have 'big dreams for the future'

SAIPAN, CNMI (Marianas Variety, April 13, 2017) – Graduation day is exciting. It marks both an ending and a beginning, and for three Palauans and a Kosraean who just completed Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility training here, it includes warm memories of the island of Saipan and big dreams for the future.

The graduates are Rodman Teltull, Lesley Ngiramolau, Michael You and Paul Sigrah.

Teltull appreciates connecting with the Palauan community on Saipan, saying it motivated him further to complete the training.

Teltull is known in Palau as a track and field athlete who participated in the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Now 23 years old, he decided to rest for a while and concentrate on his chosen career which is firefighting. On Saipan, he learned about emergency response, hazard mitigation, evacuation and rescue of passengers and crew of an aircraft involved in an emergency. He is determined to excel as a firefighter, but he is still willing to participate in sporting events if he has free time.

Like Teltull, Lesley Ngiramolau and Michael You of Palau and Paul Sigrah of Kosrae also enjoyed their stay on Saipan. They said they learned a lot and are ready to return to their islands and serve the public.

“Saipan was like being at home,” they said.

While here, they enjoyed delicious local food and were invited to island fun events by local families and friends.

When they graduated from their training last week, their well-wishers included Palau Minister of Public Infrastructure, Industry and Commerce Charles Obichang, Palau first lady Debbie Remengesau, Consul Eileen Kintol, her staff members Melisa D. Somorang and many members of the local community.
