Former Solomon Islands Minister Appointed As New Ombudsman

Frederick Leve Fakarii appointed to five-year term

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, May 12, 2017) – Former Permanent secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Frederick Leve Fakarii is the Solomon Islands’ new ombudsmen.

Mr Fakarii took his oath of office and allegiance before the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui at the Government House yesterday.

Mr Fakarii’s appointment is for a five year period. He replaces Mr Joe Poraiwai who held the position for two terms.

Mr Fakarii had been a long-serving Public Servant serving as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury before leaving the Public Service in 2015.
