7 months of events planned leading up to 31 January 2018

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, June 29, 2017) – Nauru is launching its 50th Independence Day anniversary this Saturday with what the government calls a mega-carnival.

The country marks 50 years of independence on 31 January 2018 but the government is planning a number of events over the next seven months, leading up to that date.

Saturday's events will include sporting events, a parade before the opening of the carnival.
