Most New Caledonia Pharmacies Closed As Pharmacists Go On Strike

Pharmacists' organization accuses government of reducing drug prices below what was agreed

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Radio New Zealand International, July 4, 2017) – All but three of New Caledonia's pharmacies are closed today because of a strike.

The pharmacists' organisation is unhappy with the government's indexation which provides for a lowering of the cost of some drugs.

It said the pricing deviated from what had been agreed, but the government has reportedly expressed surprise at the action.

The two sides held talks today in a bid to settle their differences.
