HONIARA, Solomon Islands (January 14, 1999 - PACNEWS/SIBC)---The Solomon Islands is going ahead with the setting up of a Domestic Airways System that will enable night flights across the country.

Kinhill Kramer, a Solomons-based overseas company, has won the bid to implement the US$ 200,000 project.

To be installed at all provincial airstrips, the system will enable Solomon Airlines to operate domestic night flights, which currently are not possible.

The Ministry of Transport said, at present, only Henderson International Airport outside the capital, Honiara, has the satellite radio controlled system installed.

The government will use money from air service fees to fund the project.
